I thought the 352-360 motor was only offered on the Starliner with 3 speed overdrive trans.

BW T-85 3/S or 3/S OD.

I would think... ... the engine could have been ordered in a HDTP or sedan. Just guessing.

If these engines were built to run on the stock car circuit then they were likely put into the Starliner for that purpose but the Sunliner was the convertible counterpart of the new Galaxie designs so it would make sense that they could also be available for them. The 390 came along in 1961 so 1960 was about it for the 352.

The T-birds, being manufactured in the Lincoln plants, had the 430 MEL engine available so they were preferred over the 352 for performance in those cars. FoMoCo had two all stainless steel T-birds produced in 1960 and they are something to see. I imagine they weight over 2-tons though. They would need a 430 to motivate them.

I have a book with a good article on the 360 HP cars. It has a documented Sunliner with one. I think they were available in all body styles. The only car the article said it wasn't available in was the Thunderbird. They were available with 3 speed manual and the same with overdrive only. No automatics.

I got to conscecrating on this...

The engine was released as part of a complete vehicle package. If SPO in another body style, I would think FOMOCO would have required vehicle assembly as or close to the special optioned 60 STARLINER released as per for safety purposes, especially HD manual brakes and electric wipers minimum.
