Default 1911 or 1912 Model T Value

A Guy near me has a 1928 ford roadster and a 1911 or 1912 Model T Phaeton for sale for $22k for both. Both cars were restored 30 years ago and have a nice patina to them. I am in love with the 1928 roadster and want to go $10k on it but the guy wants $22k for both cars and won't separate. Does anyone know if the 1911 or 1912 phaeton is worth 12K for a quick sale. The T has some holes in the roof but the body is nice. The car is complete with all the brass and it runs with a clear Title. It has doors in the back but no doors in the front the body is made that way. I would love to have the model a but don't want to get stuck with the T. Can anyone help me know if I could sell the T for $12k. Thanks, Ryan Martin, Montana

The T should sell easily at around that price.

At that price, take the T and sell the A. An '11 T in good condition is easily worth the asking price.

Without pictures it could be a later running gear with an early body etc. car with a 11/12 title or... ? Or a smorgasbord of parts put together. There are too many variables to give you it's good deal or not answer. Or it could be a correct car.

The A could be the same way! The roadsters are popular all over a wide spectrum but the Ts have a select interest group of folks that really like them. I suspect that this is why he won't split them up. The price is good if the cars are at least in fairly decent condition. It's real good if they have been well cared for.

Both cars were restored 30 years ago and have been inside ever since. However, the tops on both of them have holes and they haven't been driven in some time but they will surely run. If I get them bought, I will post pictures for everyone. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I would like to have the A roadster in my garage (permanently).

An open car top is something I would expect to replace about every 10-years or so and somewhat longer if the car is kept in a temperature controlled environment. Once a person has replaced a soft top once, they get easier every time. L-B has kits that won't break the bank. The roadster top is pretty simple but the phaetons are more complex. It's mostly just because they are bigger and more bulky. Top irons & wood parts usually need a bit of work too but sometimes you get lucky.

Just sold a 1912 lots of patina restored in 1966 1917 Engine. Everything else correct for
20K an 11 is worth a little more.
Make sure what your buying first.......

These cars are all about the parts that go into them. You could have a "1912" Model T that has not one part actually made in 1912. It still might look like a 1912 to the uninformed. But it won't be worth as much.

There can be $20K value difference between a real 1912 touring (phaeton is a word used for Model A's) and a faked up 1912 touring.

Bottom line, bring someone who knows the answers to your original question to look at the cars in person. Buy the cars, not the story. The story matters not one bit.
