Need help with my rear end
im needing the 3 steel shims that go behind the spider gears to keep them from rubbing the housing . please let me know ............ steve

? There are no shims, the spider gears rub. If the carrier is that worn then you might look for a better one because chances are the area where the axle gears rub will be worn too.
If someone has made or found a cupped shim that has worked that would be interesting to hear about. |

one of my rear ends had the steel shims in it . I don't know how I lost them . but I do need them .......... thanks .. steve

I see that it's a 4-point cross. Not sure if the truck spider is the same as the V8 but you might want to try the columbia shims from John connelly at columbiatwospeedparts.com.

I might be able to help on this one. I have built a couple of quickchange rears for the early V8. One used Mustang spider gears and axles. While the spider gears did need to be ground to fit the carrier the shape of the curve was correct and the cross pin diametyer was the same. So if you go to a place that builds rear ends (Fleetpride or other shops) they will be able to sell you a shim that will work.

ok guys ........... I owe you all an apology . apparently my head was not on my shoulders , must have been in a deep , dark hole . you are correct in that there are no shims behind the spider gears . my mistake .............. thank you all ...... steve
