It appears to be decent fenders but one never knows until they have been "rubbed on". They may not be as nice in person. The running boards offered as originals appear to be a repro.

I cannot help but wonder if this is yet another car touted as "restored" that really was just a poor attempt at "repairing & repainting" where afterwards the reliability was just not there (poor brakes, sloppy steering, noisy trans, rust in gas tank, yada-yada) and so it was never driven. Now it has a bad reputation and so it seems like the best option is to "make it reliable" with a Chevy V-8. From the outside looking in, it has been club members who call themselves restorers who have been the root cause for many 'restored' Model-A's being turned into rods. (Think about it!!)

Ouch.

Seems to me that that one would be a lot of fun just to go through, fix up the chassis, and drive it. A lot cheaper than rodding it, too.

Oh well, there's a lot around and it's his so let's hope he finishes it and doesn't just turn it into a pile of chopped up parts. I can appreciate a well-done rod, but I hate chopping if only done for chopping's sake. I see too many chopped up bodies on Fleabay for my stomach.

Glad I bought a coupe while there are still some available that have not been destroyed by someone who thinks they are smarter than henry ford was. Amazing how many are for sale that are half hot rodded.

That's pretty sad, you see decent running chassis on ebay all the time and you have to wonder what happened to the body?

Nothing wrong with hot rods but why not start with a stripped shell like our friend flop is doing. i almost hate to see these cars sell cheap because this is often what happens. i could be wrong but it looks like a nice driver.

I spotted this the first thing this morning. I could sure use those fenders but that would be a little drive from Calif. Plus Calif. and West Virginia probably wont be here after tomorrow.

R.I.P.

Also i do not claim mine to be restored, just repaired. That why it is on if it pops out of gear or still drives like a 80+ year old car, not like it is (completely) finished or anything.

Yep, FLOP brings these back from the dead! I've seen them first hand. Sad to see a nice original rodded. Unless it is a sweet period correct rod.

I have found for 30 years, that the best place to buy good parts to restore your car, is from street rodders. Usually they sell them cheap, since they don't need them. You cannot pretend that street rods won't happen, so you might as well take advantage of it.

Amen brother. That's why they make Buicks - each to his own. I personally like 'em brought back to life as they were originally, but if you own it, you can paint it any color you want, right?

Well its a Very LATE 1930 or as one might bring up a very early 1931. Since it has 31 front fenders and running boards. Take you pick. So call the guy up and make him a offer he can't refuse... And then you keep it stock... I for one can not see starting a project with this car if going to be a rod. There are WAY TO MANY CARS out there already FOR SALE to want to ruin this coupe. And again if this car was going to be a rod then ALL PARTS will be for-sale... not just fenders, bumpers and front apron.. THEN you will see engine.tranny , complete frame , wheels , steering , and so on.

Maybe he figured he could make more money parting it out! That way he wouldn't have to fix/repair anything and still get his price.

Funny, I want to sell my original registered unrestored complete AR phaeton . and am only getting tyre kickers around the 11K mark.

If I whacked a flathead and a dropped axle in it and 16 inch wires or mags and threw the fenders and splash.running boards away, .... a hiboy with a stance, I would probably get double that money.

I agree, I just picked up a running motor Trans and some more parts from a running older rest 31 that a guy is hot rodding. Got a pretty good price on it. He said he wanted it all out of his way. I messaged about some parts off the coupe listing and he said he would be listing more in the coming weeks. Said hew wasn't sure about motor and Trans yet.

The first Speedster I built in 1992 was the result of being able to buy the running gear from a 1931 cabriolet for cheap money as the owner built a great street rod that he eventually sold for big bucks. Sold the Rootleib body to a Great American Race guy and the running gear is now under a fiberglass '31 sedan delivery. Perhaps we need to start a list of 'barners that bad mouth hot rodders so we don't accidentally sell them great A parts for pennies on the dollar!

What worries me Brent is that there is no returns. I've passed on buying something that says no returns excepted.

i reserve the right to laugh at the ones that think any car with more than 2 doors is worthless & turned car shows into a weird fashion thing with the same 5 retro songs playing over & over & never use the huge engines for actually moving the car... & wear pretend clothes with wannabe stuff embroidered on it while talking a mile a minute without actually saying anything & the taxidermied children leaning against the cars. It used to be a car show...
May be inarticulate but some people know what i mean.

I live close to a town of 60,000 people. There are seven professional hot rod shops in this town. These people buy unmolested old Fords and then molest them. A friend has a 40 Ford coupe and he parked it next to a chopped 40 Ford coupe. The un- chopped car was a lot better looking. I think the old Ford styling is the best. When I look at ads and see Mustang two and Aluminum radiators, I quit reading the ad.
