I had no frickin' idea why a phaeton was called a phaeton, so I looked it up. Now I know.

Well for fun I googled "fancy carriage names" Wikepedia has some interesting definitions. Phaeton was the son of Helios and nearly set the earth on fire while driving the chariot of the sun. There were several styles of horse drawn Phaetons. Sorry as I still haven't mastered linking and such. There were cabriolet's as well. From buckboards to Barush are well defined.

In essence what my post was alluding to...

The term phaeton had earlier referred to a light, open four-wheeled carriage, which again referreds to the disastrous ride of the mythical Phaëton, son of Helios, who set the earth on fire while attempting to drive the chariot of the sun.

Phaeton was also the name of the company that manufactured the first Australian built car in 1896.

I'm here to enjoy the hobby, and enjoy the cars no matter what they look like. Most of the worlds problems are electrical.
