Default The quaile has spread its wings... and now they are bent...

Just came back from a longer trip with our Margarethe. Within the first 400 yards, our quaile went for a little flight. We stopped and found it, but it will not fit into the two little slots on the radiator cap anymore. The wings are about 4mm, a bit more than an 8th of an inch, too close together.

What's the best way to bend the wings apart, do i have to warm them up or will the material be generous enough to give me those 4mm back?

I think heating is too likely to damage the chrome plating so doing ity cold might be your best bet. I think you should be able to get 4mm back, it's not very much but there is only one way to find out.

I am afraid you are right. I will heat it up to about 160°C, that should help it a bit and not damage the chrome.

Most have of those are white metal castings.
Likely a lost cause

Heat the Quail in boiling water to protect the chrome. Good luck.
