Adding petina to a reproduction 32 Grille Emblem
Hi,
Has anyone experimented with aging or adding patina to a reproduction 32 grille emblem or chrome rad.cap to use on an original car? I would like to hear what works and what doesn't. Hopefully some one has experimented with this. Or if anyone has any ideas of what will work let me know. Thanks in advance. Jim Last edited by Midwest Tin; 12-10-2017 at 09:27 PM. |

You might try rubbing compound to take the shine off a repop.

I think mightycarmods did something like this on their YouTube channel. They used various methods on different panels for a somewhat scientific experiment. Salt water, beer, and urine.

Just an idea. How about getting a little bit of car battery acid from an old battery at an auto parts store, to soak it in. Keep an eye on it, and have some water with baking soda, to rinse with, when it starts to resemble the look you want. .

If you want a permanent tarnish experiment with this on another chrome part to see if you like it...

I never did get the "fauxtina" thing. You can usually spot it from a long ways away.

You can put your part in a media blast cabinet and using ultra fine glass beads @ 40psi you can achieve the patina look.
