32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
My 32 5W has dual windshield wipers which appear to be original. Most of the 32's I see online have a single wiper and only occasionally do I see one with dual wipers. The reading and research I have done does not explain whether this was offered as an option or only on certain models or maybe during a certain production time-frame. I'm curious what the logic is behind the single/dual configuration? Has anyone some information on this?

One wiper when the car left the factory. Someone added the passenger side wiper at a later date.

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
I don't remember seeing the dual wiper set up being available for the 1932 Ford but it was an authorised Ford accessory ( at extra cost) in 1934 and could be easily fitted to earlier models. It is shown in the 1934 Ford accessory brochure. Regards, Kevin.

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
The dual/tandem accessory wipers for the '34 Model year utilize just one wiper motor (vacuum) with the wiper arms/blades connected with a rod between them as seen in this kit. >
I don't know if this kit was offered in 1932...

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
I agree with the above; your second wiper arm and blade were added post production.

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
Mine has a separate, original type, wiper motor on each side, working independently from the one on/off vacuum switch. The replies that I have recieved indicate that this would have been added post-production. Thanks to all those who supplied information.

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
Here is what Ford Did offer as a dealer installed accessory. The opposite side wiper attached the the driver side with a link. It keeps them in sequence with each other. I don't think Henry Ford would have like the wipers moving back and forth not in parallel. Pictured is the brochure and the kit itself.

Re: 32 Ford Dual Windshield Wipers
Dual wipers on our 32, and the accompanying picture, though grainy, shows the mounting of both the motor and the attaching post mounts.
