Cylinder head install video series
I've posted the last video in my series on installing a new cylinder head. The series is oriented toward those installing a HC head for the first time. I had the idea to do the series six months ago, but I had no idea it would take this long or wind up totaling almost two hours of film.
Topics covered include:

Re: Cylinder head install video series
I just watched a few of these videos, and I must say I was impressed. Both the photography and explanations were very well done, and you’ve done a service to our hobby by posting them……thanks!

One thing I don't talk about in the video, because it's a bit of an experiment, is that I'm using ARP Ultra-Torque lube on the head nuts and torquing to 50 ft-lbs. So far I've been pleased with the performance. The Graphtite gasket fully broke in after just one heat cycle – no need to take it out on long drives. I also had no problems using the copper gasket for the water outlet. I had to put it back up on jack stands to adjust the steering play after that video was taken, so consequently I haven't taken it out for a road test yet. Just gone up and down the driveway checking the brakes and transmission. I'm playing it very safe with the spark advance. The Nu-Rex centrifugal advance goes to 29°, which is on the high side, so I'm keeping it retarded about 10° overall until I have more time to road test it. |
