A little off topic re Model A/s.

Here in OZ, some models of cars, usually 60/s 70/s Australian muscle cars have gone thru the roof.

There is a tax loophole with cars here.

There is no capital gains tax.

So one guy can get a real heap of rust and bodge it up so it looks like a car, then sell it to an acconplice for a few hundred thousand, and it is a perfect way to launder their black money.

Old fuddy duddies who think their 'precious collector cars' (Which are rusty piecemeal horrid looking things with bald tires, missing doors ect ect and every bodge job in the book) are worth moonbeams, but then they think i should pay them to take my car away.
My car, to me, is worth what i want for it and nothing less!

wingski.......They just couldn’t understand that to me those cars and that money were really not compatible.

Yup, you cannot take that 15K or so you have stashed under the mattress out for a drive when there is a nice sunny day.

Winski,

Keep it and enjoy it for a couple years. We'll have a massive inflation by then and it'll be worth $25K.

A good friend of mine's grandfather used to say when told by someone bragging that his car was worth a specific amount, he would say "That may be true, but what can you get for it?"

I attended an auction today in Boone County Illinois where they were auctioning off a 1930 Coupe. This Coupe was in a barn for the last 6 years and was last licensed with a antique plate in 1986. It was straight, no rust and good paint. Dual side mounts and V8 rims and WW tires on it. Tilly carb with excellent correct interior. All steel fenders, etc...They had it started and sounded good. BUT it was leaking antifreeze from a block crack just under the water pump as I have seen happen on multiple Model A engines over the years...

This auction was held at a unheated building at the fairgrounds and I went thinking it would be poorly attended because it was -14 deg F. Maybe some bargains to be had for the brave. I arrived late and got a Bid #200 and just watched the people come, see, freeze, and leave. Not lots of people sticking it out.

The Model A was outside and was sold off at 11:00 as promised. I was checking out my competition and did not recognize any of the local normal Model A club members in attendance. I was seeing some younger guys that were saying how easy it would be to turn it into a Rod... The bidding started at $12K with no takers. The auctioneer moved down in increments until one guy started it off at $5K. Three main bidders then quickly ran it up to $9400. were it was sold. The couple that bought it were from Chicago and their plan is to haul it to the Auburn Car Auction in Indiana later on in the year so they can flip it..... I was unable to download pictures to share but here is the link to this auction if you would like to see pictures of this Coupe.

x2! Why does everybody think that's what they are? Even the parts dealers (who should know better) call them that. They're not. They are correct for roadsters only and are to support the bows when the top is folded down.

There's probably as many coupes running around these days with "rumble seat grab handles" as there are roadsters.
