Default Gas filler problem

I have a 37 Tudor. I bought a new tank from Tanks Inc. Perfect fit. I put the filler on, and used the rubber hose between the filler and the tank. When I put in gas. Part of it leaks out. I cant crank on that clamp much more before it breaks. I already broke one. Still leaks. Is there a trick to getting that filler hose to seat?? Thanks

Look for defects like cracks, deformed metal or hose, foreign objects at sealing surface, is hose seated over bead, clamp not crossing bead, etc. Also a picture is helpful.

Could you use a rubber coupler sold in the Home Depot plumbing/sprinkler area?

What kind of clamp are you using? Some are much better than others and you can get them tighter without breaking them.

Did you use a new rubber hose? They can dry out and get stiff so they dont seat and compress well....... Mark

The problem I found out that you can only get the right size hose from a boat builder or ebay maybe. Its in between 1 3/4 and 2" you need 1 7/8"
What I had to buy was 36" diesel and gas steel core hack off what you need and sell to Fordbarners or ebay.

I have 2". I will look for the 1 7/8". I bought a flex hose from Drake, and it cracked and leaked after one year sitting. I will check with Tanks Inc. They might also have the hose. As far as the rubber cuppler goes. The gas would melt the rubber. A plumber told me to use two clamps. One on the other side. When you tighten them up. It will tighten it on both sides and not have a kink it it anywhere. Thanks for the help.. Al

Or try just one of the double wire clamps (no bumps)

That is the kind of hose clamp I was using. Torqued down on it, and it snapped right off the track. I will try those double wire guys and see if that works.

To use " radiator hose" in a gasoline environment is pure folly.

I used a gas hose with a radiator clamp. I already know not to use a radiator house. The gas will break down the rubber used in that hose.
