Default 15" wheel ID

Can anyone ID this 15"wheel? It came on a 40 project I just picked up.
15x5-1/2 There's no hubcap bumps, inside or out. It looks like it should have clips for caps. May not even be Ford.

I think this is a later style 15" Ford wheel from a car. I kind of remember cruising the pick and pull and found many of these wheels on late 70s and/or early 80s before they msybecwent to aluminum wheels ....

You can weld on nipples BTW ....

There could be more, but, Here are some vehicles that have the 5 on 5.5" bolt circle.

Chrysler: 8-cylinder/Wagon 1946-1955, Imperial 1954-1966

International: Scout, Travelall
Jeep: All 1942-1989
Lincoln: 1939-1948, 1949-1952, 1952-1960
Mercury: All 1939-1951
Suzuki: Samurai 1986-1989

That may have been for a late 40's - early 50's Lincoln , and made for a full wheel cover , hence - no nub's . I've heard of & seen them before .

Here is a picture and a little more info about the Lincoln wheels. The 39-40 Lincoln had 16"
wheels, then in '42 went to 15" wheels with retainer clips to hold on the hubcaps, but the
area where the clip is rivited on is different than the wheel you show in your original post.
By the mid 1950's most manufactures quit using retainer clips to hold hubcaps on.

Your 15" wheel shown is prolly from the Chrysler 8cyl/wagon.

More info and picture below.

42-48 Lincoln

The 40-48 Ford, 40 Merc, and 39-40 Lincoln were 16x4 and the bolt pattern was 5 on 5.5. The Ford and Mercury wheel hubcaps were held on by knobs that were on the inner part of the wheel and connected around the outside of the hubcap, this is called an inside knob hubcap. The Lincoln wheel hubcaps were held on by clips. In 1940 the Fords that came with V8-60s had 16x3.5 wheels. In 1941 Merc and Lincoln both had 16x5 wheels, Merc still had inside knob hubcaps and Lincoln still had clips. The 42-48 Mercury and Lincoln wheels were 15x5 and again Mercs had inside knob hubcaps and Lincolns had clips as in the picture above.
