Most of the cost is to cover personal injury insurance.
That's still nearly every weekend, and with 90 days, you have many to spare.

In Massachusetts I have one antique with antique plates and another (31 year old truck) with regular plates, both are insured with Hagerty on one policy. Actually the antique plate is for limited driving and that gets renewed annually, the other has a regular registration renewed on a two year basis with no restrictions except for insurance stating it should not be used for daily commuting The yearly cost for the regular plate works out cheaper than the antique plate. Both vehicles require a state safety inspection every year. How do you figure?

Yeah I never did the math but let's say I drive the car roughly half the year. May-October. Maybe 25 weekends. Go to town Friday and Saturday. That's 50 trips. Due to rain and other commitments it's probably closer to 30 trips. A year! Wow I'm really abusing the hell out of that plate.

I have a box of small tools and if I ever get pulled over I'm going with just doing some carb tuning.

In the UK a Model A is classed as an "Historic Vehicle" and does not need an annuall roadworthy inspection and pays no road tax . You can drive anywhere any time any distance . Haggerty insurance is a market leader here and very reasonable premiums based on how many miles you want to drive . To use Haggerty here in UK you must have a main modern car as your main driver .

If you were in Massachusetts you could get a regular 2 year registration (cheaper than an antique plate) and insure it with Hagerty or another state approved insurer and enjoy the lower insurance rate as long as you had a regular registered car and you were the driver.

If you have a relative living across the state line, register the car at their address. Your police dept is out of control, the ''us'' against ''them'' mentality. They have discussed and targeted you. Be very careful. They won't be happy until you have been ''gotten''.

Here in France there are two types of vehicle registration. Normal and Collection. There used to be a law that if you wanted to drive your collection car out of your department (administrative area) you had to fill out a special form.

I'm convinced that this law was only created to give the civil servants something to do. Anyway, as usual here in France nobody took any notice so the law was quietly scrapped.

The same thing happened a few years ago, they made a law saying that every car had to have a special type of alcohol tester for the driver in the glove box. Then the French government discovered that there were not enough manufacturers around that could produce this special tester. So again, the law was quietly dropped.

I'm sure it's the same all over the world. Just more work for idle hands.

Parked on the roadway, facing the wrong way, after crossing over a double yellow line. Where's that cop when you need him?!

I have used a historical plate to daily my 78 for years. in michigan. I got pulled over for speeding. first thing I said was i had a part to install. But I couldn't locate my reg and insurance in the 20 seconds he gave me before he walked away. so he hands me a ticket with three violations and walked away acting like he was real busy but he just speed trapped me. so long story short the plate was never mentioned in court or at the stop. because i had the paper work he just wouldn't give me time they charged me for the speeding and dropped the other violations.

I have a Historic Vehicle tag on my 31 Sport Coupe that has been on it since the 70's. When I bought it in June I was issued a regular tag that is tied to the Historic Tag. I was instructed to run the old tag and keep the new tag in the vehicle. This is in Georgia.
