Default Tillotson carburetor butterfly

Is The butterfly supposed to close all the way on my Tillotson model X when the throttle is closed? I measured about .025 on the top and the bottom when The throttle is all the way closed.

How high does it idle .025 seems a little much but it needs to be open some or it would not idle

Not sure the exact opening spec's, yes the throttle plate must be open enough to let fuel in to idle.

Ok, I know it's supposed to have a small air gap for idle but it seems a bit much to me. I pushed on it and it literally won't close anymore so I'm sure it's fine.

Did you back off the idle speed screw? Do that, then see if the plate closes all the way. It should, or it may need a slight adjustment by loosening the 2 screws holding it to the shaft. Loosen those 2 screws, then wiggle the shaft and plate until it's closed all the way, then hold it closed as you tighten the 2 screws.
