Spicey Car Photos
These photos of babes on cars were hot stuff back in the 1920s and 1930s. Today there are worse TV commercials.

Man in trench coat, standing in an alleyway, to a man passing by: "Hey, Mister! Do you have any naked pictures of your wife?" Man, indignantly: "Of course not!!!" Man in alley, reaching inside his trench coat: "Wanna buy some?"" Ha, ha, ha! Oh, I bet I get banished for that one. Marshall |

I'm thinking that the wheels are not correct for this truck, but looking closely it does look like original style Firestone tires.....and the sealed beam headlights, where are they from?

Re: Spicey Car Photos
Yeah, you're right, Tom. I guess to update the joke to suit modern American technology, jargon and the "new" demographics, the man in the trench coat should be offering photos of the guy's wife on a diskette or a zip drive. And maybe I'd have to change "trench coat" to "hoodie"? Also, who stands in city alleys anymore - and lives to tell about it? And to be 100% PC, there'd have to be a racial balance so that at least one of the main characters would have to be a minority figure, preferably with some kind of disability. And...and...and...
Oh, heck! Forget it. It's not worth the effort to bring a classic joke into the 21st Century. It's better off staying in Grandpa's time. Marshall |

Marshall,
To be more up to date your trenchcoat man should offer photos on an eight inch floppy disk. Last edited by Benson; 08-19-2017 at 05:01 AM. |

Bob, I have a whole file of photos like those, and most are from Europe. I prefer the newer style, with a model A Ford, and with the larger headlights.

I came out of a restaurant a couple years back and there was 3 hot babes taking pictures of my roadster pickup and them in front of it. When I told them it was my truck you should have seen all the hugs I got. I wish I had had a camera that day.

I remember the big floppy disks and the small ones, and the Zip disks,(still have some) and now CD's are even gone on new machines. I moved to Mac computers 10 years ago, and now thumb drives and minni external hard drives are so cheap and so much capacity, I use them. I have no idea what is on the Zip disks or floppies, but hate to throw them out. I may find someone who can read them.

WHen I graduated from a Commodore 64 to a PC, it was a 386 with no hard drive. The operating system (DOS) was on a floppy. I was so amazed when I got a 2 MB hard drive! Then I got windows 3.11! We have come a long way. My huge flat screen Imac is amazing.

My first job as a graduate engineer in 1969 was with Burroughs Corp. designing 32" dia. disc files with arrays of fixed flying heads. Holding tolerances on the mechanicals was a nightmare.

Wasn't that the model used to produce the table lamp in that Christmas movie, "A Christmas Story"?

Re: Spicey Car Photos
The first digital camera I used used a 1.44 megabyte floppy disc to store the photos. If you shot in HQ it would hold one photo!
It makes me smile when I see children learning how to use software on modern computers. Many software titles still use a floppy disc icon as the shortcut to save work. None of today's children, nor many of their parents have used or would even recognise a floppy disc themselves but they all know that that little picture means save. |
