Upper hose
I'm just doing a Visual inspection I noticed the upper radiator hose is leaking around the seams? The clamps are tight. I never seen this before. So I guess it's time for new hoses. I'm using the stock hose clamps. I've heard that there's a better clamps I can use. Can you tell me what kind to get.

Re: Upper hose
Remember those long WRAPLOCK clamps? They're handy for MANY things & you just snip off the excess. They're used a lot, for tieing down Brake Lines, I'm sure you've seen them.
Original clamps are a PAIN, at times! Chief said, "Sometimes Baling wire wurks BETTER"!!---LOL--He wasn't Kidding, I've seen him wrap 4 turns around a hose & TWIST the ends together, for a leak free connection. Bill Nodrip

Re: Upper hose
I only use original clamps and never had a leak.
I've also never seen a hose leak at the seams like in your picture. |

Re: Upper hose
I,m with Tom I have never had a leak with original clamps. Maybe some one used a old hard hose.

Re: Upper hose
The reproduction hose clamps come in two types: Cheap Chinese junk, and quality reproductions. Some suppliers sell both. As expected, the quality reproductions cost more than the Chinese junk.

Re: Upper hose
I guess the hose is about 10 years old. I have all of paper work on the car in a file but the file is so thick. It would take a forever to find it.

Re: Upper hose
Vaseline on the inside of the hose clamps will help prevent bunching of the rubber hose.
I also give the inside of the hose a light coat to help it slip on easier. |

Re: Upper hose
Permatex Permashield Gasket Dressing & Sealant works well. It does not harden and the hose is easy to remove at a later date. It is also fuel resistant.
