Re: 2013 Moonshine Festival
Hey Vic,
This is Mike Sydney from Homosassa. We met in Dawsonville. My 40 Flatty is acting like it is starving for gas when I get over 50mph. Carb seems to have plenty of fuel. Got any ideas? Fuel pump? Fuel line? Air leak? Mike |

Re: 2013 Moonshine Festival
Hi Mike, Your description of the problem could be attributed to any and all of the things you mentioned however, I would check for any vacuum leaks and adequate fuel flow from the fuel pump to the carb. Also, check at idle, turn the air/fuel mixture screws one at a time to see if they produce any change in the engine idle. If they do not, that would most likely indicate a bad power valve. If everything with respect to fuel delivery is up to par and the carb adjustments do have an effect, I'd check the timing/distributor, etc. Without actually being there, it's tough to pin down the source(s) of the problem.

Have you tried slowly pulling out the choke to see if it goes away ? Also make sure your fuel pump isnt sucking air around the lid if you have a steel bowl fuel pump. If its a glass bowl make sure it isnt sucking air around the top of the glass bowl. |
