Default The Drum Taillight electrical assembly

I have some drum taillight assemblies and am wondering how to remove the bakalite fixture on the back of the assembly.

I know for one that you press the little button down that is on the upper outside top of the Taillight socket assembly. However there is a "mushroom" shaped pin on the inside that is connected to a fixture that is riveted to the main body of the bracket.

I am sure that one does not need to remove the rivet just to remove the bakalite piece so is it that the "mushroom" pin just needs to be pulled out to replace the bakalite piece?

Thanks.

Pluck

Pluck,
I don't really have an answer for you, but I can tell you what I've seen and maybe some choices. First off, I've tried to put a socket into the rear housing/license plate bracket, and I don't see any way to do it without bending, shortening one leg of the tab, or removing the rivet.
The little tail that goes under the post in the socket must have been installed by riveting that part of the assembly. I think they slipped the tab under the post and installed the rivet for that assembly.
I've seen where that tab has been bent into an S or U shape to help remove it.
I also have a few that have one little leg of the tab shortened (see photos) but I haven't tried that method in removing, or installing, the socket.
