Default Summit Racing.....A+

Thursday morning I ordered a set of American Racing Torque Thrust center caps for my secondary ride from Summit Racing. These things were made in the 60's. I thought my chances of finding the correct caps were slim at best.I talked to a parts guy from the Texas store and gave him the dimensions. He came up with a parts number and said they would be shipped from the Nevada warehouse. The service was friendly and professional.Keep in mind that the order was placed on Thursday. The parts were on my porch Friday afternoon and they were a perfect match. Then I broke into my happy dance.
Anyway, a big "Thank you" to Summit Racing.

Were they the metal ones or the newer plastic ones?

JSeery: They are plastic but they have a polished aluminum set as well (different bolt pattern though). I also ordered an extra set of stickers for ten bucks. They are silkscreen on aluminum.
On Summit's site:
Wheel cap..............ARE- 898008 (there are two choices)
Sticker...................ARE-888418

I buy a lot of stuff from Summit. Great company with knowledgeable sales staff. If they don't have the answer to a part you are looking for or installing, they will get the answer, and get back to you. Definitely customer friendly. The wheels, hubcaps, and tires on my 41 pickup came from Summit.

The reason I was asking is my son runs Torque Thrust rims on a 65 Mercury Cyclone. I had some of the original metal caps, but the replacement ones were plastic. Was just checking to see if they still were. They are high quality, but have a little bit different look than the aluminum ones. Treading on thin ice here!!!!

I have a set of caps (ARE 1055001) that have never been installed and look perfect. But have no idea what they fit and can't use them. They measure 3-5/8 from hole to opposing hole. If anyone can use them, let me know.

My experience with Summit has been poor. I would say we send at least 50% of the items we purchase from them back, as they either were described incorrectly, poor quality or did not fit or function correctly.

I've had fairly good luck with Summit, but tend to use Jegs more often.

For all it's worth, I have made many purchases with Summit over the last few years and have never had a single issue with them.

Yeah, I hear that they sell Coker tires for the same price as Coker, but have free shipping, which can be substantial.

Yeah, I wish I could get the free shipping. most, if not all only ship free to the contiguous ( sp ? ) U.S. they don't get it that we get ups ground. send everything fast and expensive. sometimes I would wait a bit longer if the difference was a substantial reduction in freight charges. I hate paying 25-30 bucks freight for a ten to fifteen dollar item. the price we pay for living here.

I've used Summit quite a lot and always have been happy with the goods supplied and reasonable freight costs to Australia.
Last week I priced a 19 inch tire from a Vintage car tire supplier in CA and the tire was $145.00, freight was $268.00. No thanks.

I buy all my tires from them. Same price, free shipping. And I usually get some smaller goodies I need at the same time. Any order order 100.00 is free shipping, so it all ships free. They carry all the genuine Stromberg parts.
