Default Front Brake grease zerc woes

Good Morning Campers!
One of the very nice Front Brake Actuating Assemblies that I had on the shelf for my current axle restoration has a problem. The port for the grease zerc has been damaged to the point that the threads won't hold the zerc and there isn't enough room to try to re-tap the threads.
Anybody here have advice on a practical method of welding/brazing/soldering/bubble gumming the hole around the zerc so that will hold the zerc well enough to take grease? I sure don't want to take that guy apart. thanks

slightly oversized zerks are available to solve this problem

check this out
http://www.saeproducts.com/drive-typ...-fittings.html

I believe the thread at that location is 1/4-28. Pull the fitting from the undamaged one and check it with a 1/4-28 fine thread bolt to be sure

You also may be able to get an 6.35 mm metric drive type fitting to work, same webpage, PN K-M635

there may be other sources.
I recall NAPA having some oversize available years ago also
Their Balkamp catalogue should show them

How much could a "new" activator from Bert's cost? They are real easy to install and no "farmers fix".

Snyders quotes $99 per side. Hence the farmers fix idea.

$20 gets you a good original plus $6 shipping.

You might try some self-tapping zerk fittings for unthreaded holes... https://www.mcmaster.com/#zerk-grease-fittings/=14ywyp8
