Re: Temperature of brake drums
agreed, shouldn't burn your hand though. go for a long drive and not hit your brakes at all, pick a backroad you can coast off to the side of the road without using brakes. then get out and check them. may be a tad warm from bearing frictions and slight rubbing but should be able to comfortably hold your hand on the wheel hub/drum.

Re: Temperature of brake drums
Heat gun is great for this. My 31 Tudor going about 35-40 mph about 1/2 mile and coast to a stop, no brake used. front about 90-100. rear around 90. I started using led tail lights about 1 year ago, before I would check temp on lights at night in rear with 20 candle power tail and 30 cpl stop light and the temp on tail light was 90. have fun modelAtony tony white Lafayette, LA

Re: Temperature of brake drums
I just bought a heat gun at Home Depot for ~$30
Great for checking brake drums and radiator.

Re: Temperature of brake drums
When I don't use the brakes they are about 5-10 degrees above air temp, after several hard stops from 60 they get to 180-200
