quail radiator cap for a 1930 deluxe model A roadsterr
I am in the final stages of restoring a 1930 deluxe model A roadster and would like to purchase a quail radiator cap which is an original or a reproduction which most closely duplicates the original. Can anyone suggest the best supplier (s) for this cap? Thanks for your help.

Whomever you get one from, it's gonna be made by Vintique.

Absolutely the finest Quail and other radiator caps are available from American Arrow Corp, by Don Sommer. They aren't cheap at about $600, but they are the finest.

For $600 that quail better start laying some golden eggs.

Re: quail radiator cap for a 1930 deluxe model A roadsterr
My coupe had a thermo quail on it when I bought it. The tail was so close to the hood that if I wasn't real careful the hood would hit it when I opened it. I removed it and replaced it with a plain cap. I probably could have adjusted the radiator support rods to increase the clearance, but I didn't care for the thermo part of the quail, and altogether it seemed a little pretentious for my modest ol' Muddle A coupe.

You are correct that $600 is a lot of money. If you ever stop at their booth at Hershey and hold one of their Quails in your hand you can feel the difference. They are cast stainless steel and not the die cast crap we have all seen. I agree that spending what amounts to the original cost of the car but if it's a high end car it's well worth it.

I contacted American Arrow Corp but they do not have the 1930 deluxe roadster radiator cap which surprised me since 30 and 31 A's are vwery popular.
