I think I am correct in saying that if an engine was built to complete running condition and inspected it was given a serial. Anything less was a spare part, so a new block would not have a serial and of course an engine assembled outside the Rouge would not be numbered.

In the middle nineties I bought. Out a relatively small Ford dealership that had been operating since the early twenty model T days. No cars but a boat load of nos parts. Lots of unusual sheeet metal complete roof assembly’s fenders doors gets etc and a pair of nos short blocks with out the heads but with a covering to keep the cylinders protected. The order dates were on the crates from 1933and the other was 1934. I sold them in a large group to,a local collector. I should have. Kept them. For what I got out of them

Somewhere in New England a dealer had a NOS Model A frame as wall art. I dunno where it went.

I have to frame rails that are supposed to be nos. I put them away year's ago.
