"If you look at the specs above one set is set differently from the other .
The build up (make ) set is adjusted to 27 degrees of dwell and then the break set (drivers side facing the engine) is set to have a total of 36 degrees. All the front mounts are speced this way.
This would make the adjustments different per set..."

Jim(Bubba),

Looking at the spec you posted, your 27 degrees (60%) would be for the 35-36 distributor. The spec above calls for 50% dwell for distributors after '36 ... 22 1/2 degrees.

Although the point sets are differently designed, why 27 degrees ... why the change to 22 1/2 degrees? Possibly the 22 1/2 (50% dwell) is preferred for all years. Points are points, dwell is dwell.

This does not mean that there cannot be better settings. It's just that in referencing the specs there is confusion ... particularly for hombres like Harylufa who is in ARGENTINA. Harylufa is going to be the best flathead mechanic in Argentina ... if not, at least he will be the best translator of automobile English into Spanish.

Thanks for posting Bubba.

(PS - I'll be calling soon. I need a crab distrib to replace a very nice divers helmet. I don't have room between the engine and radiator)
