Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Hey Coopman, bet you wish you had a car like mine as well. Stuff happens when you drive em', like an electric fuel pump going out... I'm not the slightest bit embarrassed about seeing any of my cars on a rollback, it lets everybody know that (unlike some people here) I drive all my Flatheads. Nice try though... Keep trolling.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
It's raining out so I thought I'd mess around and see if I can post photos with this Windows 10 bs... Here's a photo of my '39 CS taken a few weeks ago. I had driven her up to Don Garlits Museum in Ocala, Florida, just a short run of 240+ miles at 65 to 70 mph, a normal cruise, and she decided to blow a head gasket on the way home... I pulled her in the garage, ordered head gaskets from Mac Van Pelt that Monday and pulled the head and replaced the gasket that Saturday. Lookin' forward to gettin; the carb back from Charlie NY and gettin' back out on the road for some more Flathead fun in the '39 CS.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Vic
I have very fond memories of our trip to Ocala. It was a great trip, in a great car, to an outstanding museum. I hope, we can do it again one day, especially in your 39. Im sure it will be back on the road better and stronger than ever. If your ever up to NY/NJ, be sure to shout, my 39 is ready

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
52 is very road worthy. I did a a lot to body. New running boards, new used bed, also all new shocks, brakes, rims, tires and with help of a good friend, who is a welder, we patched/fixed lower fenders. My paint skills are lacking...but...Been driving it a lot. Most recent an hour drive (one way) to a cruise night in south Jersey with the wife. It ran great and temp never went above 190.
It's a good solid driver.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Hi Mark, Has the snow melted up there yet? We've been getting a lot of rain. We need it, but, I wish it would only rain after midnight and stop by 6:00am... As a result of all the rain, I've been putting a lot of miles on the '51 F-1.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
While I'm waiting for the carb to get back from Charlie NY, I got a loaner to use, from my friend Keith. Hopefully I'll get some garage time in this afternoon and install his carb on the '39.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
I got the carb back from Charlie NY. I installed the carb on the '39 CS and all I had to do was tweak the idle screw about an eighth of a turn. She is running sweet, the sun is out, and I'm going for a topless cruise. Thanks again Charlie, for another outstanding job.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Well, Summer is here and the daily rains have started so, what went down for the Winter must come up. If you've never had the pleasure of owning, and driving, a Convertible Sedan, this is what it takes to put the top up. Usually I have at least one other person to assist but, today I did it by myself... The process takes about fifteen minutes (so you don't want to get caught in the rain). In their sales brochures, Ford referred to convertibles as "all weather" cars. I think that's because, no matter if the top is up or down, all the weather comes into the car anyway...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Took the '39 CS out for a little cruise with the top up... She doesn't look too bad when she's not topless...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Hi Vic. That sounds like fun. Hopefully some of the summer rain will give us a break but then again, a little water never hurts when you drive them.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
So, Vic - I need some help. You have so many vehicles to maintain/repair, other than knowing if it's a car or truck, I can't keep them all straight! Lol! Now, since I am working towards fleet status like you have, inquiring minds want to know how you keep it all straight? Wiji board? Corkboard of "pin-up" receipts? Computerized list with popup Google calendar reminders to check on what car/part when? Or do you just fight the fires when they flare up?!
Just busting them, Vic - I do admire how you keep it all straight (or not!) and I love than they are all flatheads ..... not to swell your head (too late I know!), you are da flathead "repair man" !!!!! |
