Default McCulloch VS-57 Supercharger

Yeah I know post this over on HAMB :-(

I'm in the process of gathering parts and engineering a way to put a VS-57 McCulloch supercharger on my SBC in my 40 convert and hoping that I can get any tips others may have experience with this unit.

- I'll will have a "blow through" setup and will be modifying a Holley 4150 carb with mechanical secondaries and no choke for it.
- Looking for experience or thoughts on either a vacuum switch or a mechanical throttle switch to stroke the solenoid in the supercharger

Biggie is to locate 55-57 Chevy McCulloch CH-101 mounting bracket. I posted in the Wanted section here and on the HAMB.

Another setup issue I'm working on is how much the idler arm pulley and spring should be deflected to have the proper load on the belt?

If the load is too small, the belt won't be pushed down into the solenoid actuated supercharger head unit. The pulley there has a solenoid operated system that increase the gap and thus the effective pulley diameter, to speed the head unit RPM up for boost. If the load is too high, it will force open the head unit pulleys and always run in boost.

If anyone here has a VS57 could you please tell me what the pin to pin dimension is compressed on a functioning installation please? This will help me in setup and belt length.

Thanks

I've got one for a 54 olds, It has the same tensioner setup. You want the distance from pin to pin on the spring mount correct?
