39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish
39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish OR Garnishment
Seem to be having a hard time finding these parts. All I really need is the passenger side door garnish. Have one for the drivers door. All it is is a fancy piece of sheet metal. The one I have is missing a plate of some kind which probably said Ford or Deluxe right in the middle Are there huge differences between the 1939 and 1940 Convertibles on the inside of the door.? Also need instructions again on how to upload pictures THANKS |

Re: 39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish
I don't have any decent photos of a '39 molding.
I have attached a photo of the proper '40 moldings. If your molding is missing a plate of some kind, you don't have the correct molding. If my memory serves me well, the biggest difference between the '39 and '40 moldings are finish and location of mounting holes. Both things easy to modify for your '40.

Re: 39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish
I have one left over from a 39 convertible coupe restoration that I never finished.
They do not have a plate in the middle. $150 includes shipping from New Zealand. Chris.NZ. email me if you are interested. [email protected] |

Re: 39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish
To take this thread a little off track, the convertible 1940 molding has a small relief (about 1/32") where it butts up against the vent window assembly that of course the 1939 does not. Not sure of the mounting screw location but we have sold fiberglass versions for both applications.
1938 had a rectangular plastic inlay insert in the molding, deluxe only (remember "plastic" was cutting edge high tech in 1938) Carpenter makes the inserts. |

Many thanks. I think y'all are correct that mine is a 38 Garnish. Good to know that a 38 or 40 Garnish could work. Thanks everyone |

Re: 39 Ford Convertible Door Garnish
Just to be clear, a 1940 might work, if one existed, as there was not a convertible sedan in the Ford model lineup.
