Default engine year to body year

Was it possible to have a Jan 31 built engine installed in a 1930 Tudor body, or would it be a mismatched engine?

Engine was given VIN number when it was approved for installation in a car. Not at the time engine was assembled.

Engine number "VIN" was than stamped on car frame at time of car assembly.

You can have engines with approval dates "VIN's" that do not correspond to manufacturing date stamped on cowl, 1928/1929. They were in storage awaiting movement to assembly line.

You should not have engine VIN dates that are newer than manufacturing date for car.

I don't see how an engine with an approval number "VIN" from 1931 could be in a 1930 car. Unless Henry was using up old parts in January 1931 from 1930.

Does engine number and frame number match?

Enjoy.

RG&JS Area 1 Engine page1-2 Revised 2011

The assembly date for a vehicle may be as long as three months after the date the engine was produced (four months in 1931).

If you don't have time to do it right the 1st time, how do you have time to do it the 2nd time?
