Last time I went through my B engine I had to call the guy who built it to ask where he got the inserts. They turned out to be from a Toyota.

I couldn't find anyone who handled this bearing it was listed but not available. I called antiqueengineering rebuilders and they have the full length mains that should replace these as the housing bore is the same. The cause was oil not getting across the insert. The oil feed hole was almost covered up by the insert but if a oil grove had been put in it I was told by another rebuilder that it would have got enough ol but there was no path across the insert.

That sucks..the whole game is attention to detail,If the cat assembling it had stopped and really looked at what he was doing..oh well, good luck finding the insert..hell Id check the other mains and the rods just to be safe..

If the AER inserts fit that is great news. My engine has been real happy with them.

I miked the bore of the crank caps to block and called Antique Engine Rebuilders. They had the inserts with the .020 that fit perfectly. These are one piece with correct oil holes beveled edges and oil grove all the way around. By the way they shipped fast and reasonable and cheaper than any catalog as they make these that are sold in all of your catalogs. I now have new inserted rods coming that they manufacture.

What was your finished clearance between your crankshaft and the inserts at each journal? I assume you checked it when assembling with Plastigage or a bore gauge?
Good Day!
