wrist pins
I'm putting the wrist pins in the pistons, The original clips fit fine and are easy to install and remove. The new spring clips are pretty much impossible. I bought a new spring clip tool that's labeled external, but I'm not having any luck with it. Do I have the right tool, or should I get an internal. Also, are the originals ok to use? If not, why not?

Re: wrist pins
If you are using original Ford pistons that are split all the way down the side , you will have to use the original center lock pins and locks. The original center lock pins have a central lock groove and are a different length . The original center lock pistons don't have side grooves for the side lock clips . The original replacement pistons that the model A venders sell are all side lock style

Re: wrist pins
The design of the spring clip has to match the groove

Re: wrist pins
Before anyone can answer your post, you'll have to describe where are the spring clips: at the ends of the pin or in the center. I believe that all modern replacement pistons use end clips since WWII. Those clips fit in the pin bore and press out to hold in place. This requires an INTERNAL circlip pliers.
