Default It's all relative, I suppose........

on our recent two month camping excursion, we visited the Elliot Museum in Stuart FL. a very nice museum with dozens of old cars, most of them Model As.
they are displayed on an automated system that plucks the storage platform off its rack, moves it laterally to an elevator and lowers it to a viewing turntable where it can be seen. the whole system is visible through glass walls three stories high. Apparently it is a system that many big-city parking garages use.
I commented to the guy who was "fetching" cars down by request that the storage/retrieval system must have been VERY pricey. He replied that it was not expensive at all. When I insisted more than once that it certainly LOOKED expensive, he finally relented and shared the cost: it was "only" $1.3 million.
one man's fortune is another man's bargain.........

He was probably speaking to the relative cost of building out instead of up. The floor space to store all of those cars would have required a substantially larger building in a location where real estate is very pricy. Also more square footage to heat, light, clean, secure, etc.
