Default Shock Absorber Needle Valve Thread

OK, shock gurus, what is the thread size and series of the smaller thread on the shock absorber needle valve? I know the large thread series is 1/2"-20 but what is the smaller thread size and series?

Thanks much,

John

OK, I went back and checked the thread again. A book I have on shock absorber repair lists the thread at 3/8"-24 UNF which is standard fine thread but it is not nor is it metric. The tread appears to be a 3/8"-20 UN. This may be correct as the thread pitch matches on both the large and small threads.

John,
Brattons is having them reproduced under their part numbers 24939, 24940 and 24950.
Give Jeff a call at 1-800-255-1929 and ask about the thread size. It is not listed in their catalog.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I am 99 and 44/100% sure that it is 3/8"-20 as that is what the micrometer says and that is what the thread pitch gauge indicates. I was hoping that someone else had figured it out and could confirm that for me. While 3/8"-20 is not a garden variety thread, it is still a standard for which I can get a tap.
