Default MARC National Tour vs Hurricane

Planning on leading a group of 10 “A”’s from Northern OH to Elkins. Watching hurricane coverage has me concerned that we could be driving into heavy rain or flooded area. I am wondering if the organizers have a “rain date” back up or if cancellation is a possibility.

My guess would be no. The planning by everyone involved ( hotels, food services etc) reservations, food and everything else that goes with a national show or tour are for specific dates and would be almost impossible to change. I am also planning to go and I hope the rain moves out early.

I agree with Terry. There are 4 from our club going. I'am driving from DE across northern MD down to Winchester VA and then over to Elkins. I have driven my As many miles in rain and snow, I am not concerned. It's an adventure. Rain-X the windows. The As are sweet but will not melt in the rain.

Don’t misunderstand my post. I have driven many hundreds if not thousands of miles in rain in my Model A. That’s not my primary concern. Flooding is. I like an adventure as much as the next guy but with a dose of caution.

I'm driving down from Newburgh, NY with two other club members, one of which is the past president of MARC. From what he has been hearing, there is a strong possibility that the tour will be cancelled and re-schedule for May 2019. Will post updates as I get them.

I spoke with Jim Layman (the organizer) this afternoon. They are talking with National about postponing the tour until May. They will be making a decision tomorrow, but he told me that it was 90% sure to be postponed. I'm just hoping I can cancel my hotel reservations without penalty.

If I have 2 choices I almost always chose the wrong one as in this case... I received the email this afternoon. I guess (here we go again) that there will be evacuees trying to find rooms this far away from the storm.
