Bird Nest
I remember seeing ads for a rumble seat kit offered for 57 T-Birds. It was fiberglass, but I have never seen one in person.
On CarsOnline.com, there is a T-bird section which has a baby blue '57 with a Factory Birds Nest. Never heard of a factory one, but the ad states it is original, steel, and they only made seven, for the auto shows. Just thought it was worth mentioning, & interesting to see. |

Re: Bird Nest
An aftermarket accessory, made in Burbank Calif.
They were (most likely) a dealer installed option. I'd heard about 500 were made. And you couldn't keep the spare in the trunk, Cont kit not included. Last edited by dmsfrr; 08-29-2018 at 10:15 PM. |

Re: Bird Nest
DM, I think I still have that Motor Life Magazine.
I just thought it was interesting that the one I mentioned has a factory bird nest built by, or for, Ford for the auto shows back in the day. EDIT: for Ford for...........never thought I would write a sentence like that. |

Re: Bird Nest
A few years ago I came across a For Sale ad for this...
***Very Rare 1957 Ford Thunderbird Prototype*** I think the asking price was in the neighborhood of $50k Someone went and looked at it and reported back that it was a cut up '55, covered in bondo over welded patches. Last edited by dmsfrr; 08-30-2018 at 03:06 PM. |
