Default Bob Drake Repop Inner '40 Fenders- Fit? Anybody know?

The inner fenders on my project '40 aren't great and will need quite a bit of repair and refinish, and trying to find a good set around here is very challenging. So the new Bob Drake inner repops are tempting (as well as being on sale as we speak).

But the gapping and fit of the front end derives from the fit of the inner fenders.

Does anybody have any experience with these new repops Mr. Drake is offering? How well do they fit? Am I better off working with my original pieces or better off starting over and working with the new reproductions?

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Pete

I suppose it depends on just how much work yours need, Drakes are "okay" in fit. Not good, but okay. I would suggest you fit them prior to the final paint on your fenders. If you are doing a concourse restoration, then fix yours. Drakes are a copy of a later service part, not assembly line correct for 1940 and big time incorrect for '39 deluxe.
As has been said "close, but no cigar..."

Pete - with these inner fenders out there so cheap I bet you can find originals cheaper and perhaps more plentiful than before. The passenger side is the bummer because of the battery acid leaking holes into the originals but I would much rather buy a leather bag and mallet to make a new piece than spend for repops that are not from original pieces like Kube said ...

Mine fit great. I don't care about concourse restoration, so they worked fine for me.
