Default 33-34 Wind Deflectors for Closed Cars

I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of 33-34 wind deflectors for my coupe. The seller claims the deflectors are complete but in looking at the photos, I don't see how the upper deflector bracket attaches to he door. There is a hinge-like bracket attached to the upper part of the deflector with a small ball joint attached. I'm guessing there must be a metal bracket that attaches to the door and receives this ball joint enabling the deflector to rotate?

Anyone have any experience with the closed car wind deflectors?

Thank you

Hello My3window, I have no experience to contribute, but I did get two snapshots of a '36 3w that has them at the V8 meet in Tahoe. Sorry they are not more detailed in the area you're interested in, but I thought it couldn't hurt. There have to be a lot of photos of that car hanging around.

Thanks for the reply and photos Verytangled. I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday and saw the 36 as well. Loved the fender skirts!

My3window,

Your assumption is correct, there's a small bracket that fits the contour of the cross section of the outer door sheet metal at the window opening that the ball rotates on. If not there, those missing brackets would likely be difficult to find (unless you were able to borrow a pair and have duplicates cast in bronze).

As for the wind wings on that '36 coupe at Lake Tahoe, they do not appear to be those released by Ford (made by Dole). The '35-'36 Ford-released closed car wind wings are the same basic design as the '33-'34s with the contours of the brackets that attach to the doors differing to reflect the door sheet metal changes.

I would like to have a pair of those for my 35 pickup, but I have never been able to locate any. Anyone know of a pair??

That style of fender skirt is available from Jeffs Customs in Tucson AZ for $250/pair.
Beautiful steel reproductions. I have 2 sets.
The '36 - '37 wind wings are the same as on that '36, and available from various Vendors on e-bay for about $169/pair less glass.

Bick,

Judging from your photos, you also seem to be missing the upper brackets that are the subject of this thread. I have some of them, but unfortunately I'm away from my junk for a couple of weeks.

Hello Everyone,

I'm a little confused, are Bick's parts the ones that My3window has a chance to buy? I didn't originally read it that way. It does look as if Bick may be missing a top mounting point. This could be an opportunity to do something with one of those new-fangled 3D scanners and printers if someone can provide a sample.

DavidG your posts are some of the best on this board, I have to say. The depths of your knowledge about these vehicles and their accessories is pretty impressive to me. Thanks for the contributions.

PS. Sorry off topic, but, Bick, what is going on in your avatar photo?

PSS. OK I figured it out, here's a better look, I hope.

Those look like they might fit my 35 PU. Does anything you have with them indicate what they fit? Sent you a PM.

The photo was taken in 1990, when the school I was Principal of had a 75th reunion. We declared the school 1931, all the kids got dressed up, I arrived in my coupe and was 'ticketed' for exceeding 15mph in a school zone. The cop was our school liaison policeman who was into Indian motorcycles, and had the appropriate period gear.

Manufacturers did not waste time getting these on the market. These are from the March 1933 Ford Dealer and Service Field.
