Vicky Dome Light
How does the dome light come apart in the Vickys? It is oval shaped and i don't see any exposed screws and before i started strong arming it, i figured i would ask some experts.

Re: Vicky Dome Light
It's been a while since, but I seem to recall that it comes apart with some gentle prying between the shells. There aren't any screws holding the two pieces together.

Re: Vicky Dome Light
The glass is soldiered in the cover
But the cover just pulls away from the housing There are “ears” on the cover that hold both together by pressure Should pull apart |

Re: Vicky Dome Light
The bezel with the lens has a backing plate that snaps into the housing. Just slip a thin screwdriver or knife and pry it off. Maybe the attached photos will help.

Re: Vicky Dome Light
Thanks Don. If nobody else it helps me. I wonder if my round dome light is the same or similar? I see no screws. I will investigate if/when my bulb burns out.

Re: Vicky Dome Light
Master cylinder, your round dome light has a wire ring holding the glass in place. One end has a bend in it that you can put a small screwdriver into and pry the ring out. Make sure that you hold on to the glass when removing the ring. I need the switch that is integral with the fixture. I don't see them in catalogues any more.

I am not aware of the socket for the dome lamp being sold separately, since it is soldered into the fixture. However, I think it would be similar to a cowl lamp socket. If you can't find what you need, I have original oval dome lamp fixtures, bezels & lenses available. Also have a few of the switch plates, but no switches. [email protected] |

Re: Vicky Dome Light
If you find one in the catalogs, you probably don't want it. Repop switches are pretty much junk. Your switch can probably be revived with WD40. Spray top and bottom openings of the barrel if it's hard to turn. Spray at the base of the bulb contact pin and work it in and out to clean its connection to the inner rotor tab. Originals have heavy brass contacts. Chinese prefer foil, I guess.
