About my shock asborers
About 20 or 30 years ago I brought a set of shocks form a vendor who was going out of business. I had seen him at a lot of swap meets selling shock. Also check with some vendors I new and they all said he was OK. Well that was not the case. Now that I have put another engine in my car. I decide to check futher into my shocks Now I need some seals for the ones that did not have them. I see that Bratton's has shock seal set 24910 for $16.85. Does anyone have any idea if they will fit my non-original shocks. I only found 1 O-ring. ? Richard?Ca

Re: About my shock asborers
If you got 20 or 30 years out of a set of shocks I think you did very well. Are they originals or aftermarket ?

Re: About my shock asborers
From what I understand, reproduction shocks are not rebuildable, but I am in no way an expert on the subject.

Re: About my shock asborers
most but not all reproduction shock are NOT rebuildable. and the kits for the original shocks will NOT work in the reproductions. most of the reproduction shocks only have oil in the inner chamber and none in the outer chamber.

Re: About my shock asborers
If the covers say Chicago on them then they where manufactured by:
Antique Auto and Parts by Pete in Chicago If this is the case, and they still function but only leak, you can disassemble them and get good 'O' rings from a Hydraulic Parts store or rebuilder. I believe that there are 3 individual 'O' rings. Darryl in Fairbanks |

Richard/Ca,
Here is a link to a previous thread where I posted photos of the Brass style Pete Buciak's shock: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57601 I also have a set of the cast iron style, which I believe where produced earlier. Darryl in Fairbanks |
