Default thar she blows fixed it #3

I figured it out the value stems were to long.I guess that why I should have used adjustable lifter.Any way I had some other values so i switch them around and found couple that fits perfect. Did a little lapping and no more blow by. Thank you everybody for your help. I know I should have used adjustable lifter but this is going be my temporary engine until I get the other engine rebuilt.

I was going to ask how the valves suddenly became too long, but I see where you mentioned in the original thread that you just finished putting the engine back together, so I assume you used different valves.

Anyway, it's good it got fixed before it got installed. BTW, I see the first 5 replies in the original thread all nailed it with checking the valves or doing a leakdown check, which would have shown air going past the valves.

Well, its easier to shorten the valves than recut the seats if the valve had been short. What were the clearances ?
If a valve grinder can't be found at any local auto shops, you friendly local airport repair facility should have one. Its easy to grind the stems. I like the original lifters as long as they are still in good shape.
