Default rear gear lube

What type ( weight) rear gear lube would be recommended for my 51 ford considering it's age and wear. The green book calls for SAE 90 but i'm thinking things have changed with oil and lube over the years?

I use straight 140 in both rear end and transmission.

Since Ford specified S.A.E. 90 summer and 140 winter, I use 90W-140 year 'round.
