55 ford Ranch wagon/ LED question?
I am thinking about replacing the 1157 tail light bulbs with led bulbs but was wondering if I need to change out the flasher too. If yes,is there any problems finding the flasher for this 55? It is already converted to a 12 volt system.
Thanks for your help. |

It probably will work without changing the flasher. If a special flasher is needed, electronic flashers are available. Check at auto parts store........Bob L

Re: 55 ford Ranch wagon/ LED question?
I haven't looked into this in some years. But early on with LED's you needed a different flasher, and they were a 3 wire. 3rd wire was ground, IIRC. The original wiring on my bird was a 2 wire and the flasher was in a clip by the steering column as I remember. So running the 3rd terminal to ground should solve it.
Edit. I went and looked, Jets shows them for both 2 and 3 terminals now. https://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/JEGS-LED...72412/10002/-1 |

Miker........you are correct. I put them in my 12V avatar and all I did was to install the bulbs-nothing else. |
