Default 1936 Coupe Rear fenders

Does anyone know how to tell 1936 Ford NOS coupe rear fenders from the Bob Drake reproductions?

I would think it would be easy, as an 80 year old fender albeit new, is not going to be perfect.

Possibly by how the wire edge is finished on the inside.

I have seen a car with Drake's '36 fenders; but never looked underneath.

I have seen how poorly the inside of the wire bead looks on repop '34 rear fenders; which gave me this idea.

Maybe someone that has a Drake fender could check and see.

If they are original they probably have round rod welded in around the lip.

A common "repair" made to stiffen and prevent fender cracks.

Bob's were spot on.If you hesitated you missed out.The primered one looked lumpy. After 34- no wire edge, just a rounded radius. Those were on EBAY and now sold,2 sets for $3K.Not mine

I have a buddy who is a '36 guy and he says the Drake fenders are right on the money for detail. They bolted right on to his 3 window.

Detail pictures of things like inner re-enforcement, brackets, etc. on the reproduction ones would be interesting to see.

Yep, I bought them as NOS but I’m going to sell a pair and do not want to mislead the person I sell to.

Yeah, I got a better deal than the $3k so I should be able to get my pair pretty cheap even if they are not truly NOS.

Thanks; I really should have known (remembered) that after fixing mine.
