windshield wiper "parking"
I have the following windshield wiper arm set up as in the drake link below.
The problem is I can't get them to "park" at the bottom of the windshield. Each time I switch off they park at the top of the sweep near the divider. I can't work out how to solve this. The wipier motor I am using is the Trico half moon shaped type. I think it only mounts one way in the bracket shown in the link. Can anyone with the same type of set up help me? what type of vacuum motor are you using? how is yours mounted to the bracket. any advice would be appreciated. thanks GB http://www.bobdrake.com/ItemForm.asp...2-e8e1601d73d3

Re: windshield wiper "parking"
Possibly links reversed? but not necessarily so. First tip, remove the wiper arms and replace with masking tape to simulate wiper action. (this prevents any damage caused by wrong orientation)

Re: windshield wiper "parking"
Is it posible to remove the wiper arms and reinstall them so they are in the "down" position when shut off?

Re: windshield wiper "parking"
The park position is governed by the wiper motor valving. Trico made a lot of different wiper motors so you may have one for a different application. It may be possible to modify the valving for the vacuum motor but I have no info to do that. You might contact one of the wiper motor rebuild specialists & ask their opinion.
Also be certain you have you rocker arm and control arms in the correct position. Most wipers sweep from the bottom up toward the outside of the winshield frame. It just depends on the model of car. Many older ones do sweep toward the center divider due to placement limitations. Last edited by rotorwrench; 10-18-2013 at 12:52 PM. |

Re: windshield wiper "parking"
Thanks for the advice. I have 2 other trico motors. I'll clean them up an give them a try. I may have one with the "wrong application". I'll keep you posted.
