Mallory distributor
I'm building an 8BA engine for a customer. He has a Mallory YC distributor he want to use. I saw where Echlin cs-2301 points are recommended for use, however NAPA says they are obsolete. Any suggestions?

Re: Mallory distributor
They list them online unless the listing is out of date. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHCS2301

Re: Mallory distributor
I have been able to find original Mallory points on eBay occasionally. They used to be kinda reasonable, but I think I paid $25 for the last set. Luckily, I now have enough to last me as long as I need them.

Re: Mallory distributor
I have a Mallory "Flattop" in the '51 mercury engine in my '51 Ford club coupe, along with a set of reworked Edmunds heads and a Rochester 2G carburetor. I drive the car a lot during the summer and do not have a single complaint about the way it runs and drives. I think it comes down to proper setup and maintenance. It's a good thing it does, because I much prefer it's looks over a converted SBC unit (unless the converted distributor is a Mallory).

Re: Mallory distributor
Not a big fan of Pertronics and cost has nothing to do with it. Keep your smart ass comments to yourself.

I probably qualify as 'old', and in many ways 'cheap'. But, in this case, cheap has nothing to do with it. Last edited by bobH; 08-29-2019 at 11:32 AM. |

Re: Mallory distributor
And the results may not be what you want to see, especially if he still wants to run 6 volts and a generator.
