Foam v/s springs for 30 truck seats
Planning on using high density foam for my 30 truck seats. Have any of you guys gone this direction?

I know a man that did this on his 31 wide bed. He was 6' 6" tall and needed the extra room. The truck was a nice driver.

Re: Foam v/s springs for 30 truck seats
I used foam rubber in the cushions of an early 30 AA that I use to have. It turned out good. I cut plywood to the shape that I wanted the cushions to be. I had a local guy make up the covers out of black vinyl and I hammered it together. It wasn't going to be a show truck and I figured even if it was I wouldn't win any prizes anyway. I do mine the way that I want to. Nobody ever knew the difference, I even won a few trophies at nearby parking lot car shows. I was afraid that I would have to do the same with our roadster. I had new springs, new seat wood and a new upholstery kit. I couldn't figure out how the rear seat back frame went together, it was my first roadster. No matter how I layed it up, it just didn't look right. Marco sent pictures and info and it worked out well. Here is a pic of the 30 truck that I did. I also cut the door panels out of thin paneling and sprayed yellow 3M trim adhesive and glued on the black vinyl. I worked on it untill two oclock in the morning getting it ready for the car show the next day. This was back in 92. Truck interiors are simple. If you're not a purist you can save a bunch of money doing it this way. I was sort of peod when i only won second place in the truck class. A really shabby 30 pickup that the owner claimed was a 1928 model won first place. Its often politics more than anything else .

High end street rods use this method all the time (low enders also...........).
