Default JD Corn Head Grease Uses ?

Hey Guys! I have been using the Corn Head grease in my clamshell for years now . I get that it doesn't turn thin & watery , (breakdown) which in turn makes it far less likely to leak out the bottom .
So , where else is this grease good for ? I know some guys put it in their steering box's . Would it be ok for front suspension parts also ? - F F

Those are about the only two places that you'd want to use it on an old Ford....clamshell and steering box. DD

V8: Do you think it could be used in a leaking transmission?

I picked up an interesting tip to help leaking transmissions from Mac VP. The pin in the back that runs through the two shafts is a source of hard to find leaks. Even though it seems like a tight fit, hot oil can find it's way out of the case through this point.

Mac's solution it to put a dab of RTV on it as it goes it and, most importantly, around the "head" of the pin. He also suggests to insert the pin with the head towards the ground.

When placing or resetting it in the case with RTV around the head, try to clamp it and let it sit overnight. He said he's found this procedure has helped stop some of these notorious leaks.

I would never venture to use it in a transmission, although the idea is interesting to think about. DD

Yes sir! These are the two places I use it. I have made a plug with a grease fitting for the steering gear box. Utilizing it, I am confident the box is 100% full. Then I replace it with a stock plug.
I also use the grease in the torque tube center bearing...

From my experience, corn head grease is also great for lubricating the transverse springs.

You can also use it on corn heads, especially the John Deere models.

It seems to work well in the water pumps as it dose not dry up and get hard.

Don't use it in a Fordson tractor. The gray might reject the green

I use it my 35 water pumps as well Bill. Just a little every now and then to keep some lube on shaft at bushings.

If JDCHG is used in the universal housing, some will more than likely migrate into the transmission through the rear bearing, especially if too much is pumped into the universal. A slight amount should mix okay with trans gear oil, but I would not suggest using only JDCHG in the transmission nor in the rear differential. JMO
