Default Tires

Who makes the most original tire for the 29 std coupe? Has anyone had experience with the Lucas tire that is made in Vietnam?

Larry,

That would be the new Goodyear 21" All Weather Balloon. Kelsey Tire Company; 1.800.325.0091
These are as close to original as you can get, as the molds were made form an original tire.

I agree with Dave, the Goodyear tires are as close as you can get. We did an article in the Model A Times on them in the Summer 2010 issue.

Even though I try to buy 'American,' Louis is right. It is very difficult. I buy made in China products because it's what is available. Our government has been after them to re-value their currency which would help the situation somewhat. JMO

Maybe if small, large companies and everything we buy isn't "TAXED up our a$$ things could still be made here!!!!!!!!! If the town taxes you, then the county taxes you, and the state taxes you, and last but not least the Fed's tax you,, buy the time they all get finished you pay out $0.60 on a dollar. Gas alone in N.Y has a $1.60 per gallon for tax. think about it. The government chased everyone out!

last week i bought a set of uniroyal tiger paw tires for my wife's astro van, when i got home and washed them i noticed on the side of the tire's it said, made in mexico.
i think the reason that so many jobs have left this country is as Peters say's, plus a lot of help from the "gready union leader's," [not the hard working members].

Mark,

While I agree that it has digressed a bit, the original question did also ask for feedback on tires made in Vietnam. Asking about a product made in Vietnam is just about guaranteed to make the response go off topic a bit in that manner.

At the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield, MA this past wk (eqivalent to a state fair but this is for all new england states), there was a vendor in the better living building selling hand carved, crafted replicas of dc-3 airplanes, b-52's, hueys, etc of mahogany. Beautifully crafted and finished, even to functioning rotor blades on the helos, fairly reasonable. Picked one up and label on bottom, made in V Nam. Walked away. As peters180A says

Lucas tire said that their $65 21 inch tires were a good tire for the price. I would prefer the new US made, I assume, Goodyears but due to budget and the fact that I do not drive the car a lot I hate to spend that amount of money and not use them a lot. Any suggestions on a US made tire that will not burn a hole in my budget. Right now I have 2 original Firestones on the car, 3 25 + year old Allstates and 1 Zenith!

Just put up the money, by one at a time. Theres nuthing more importaint than your tires. You dont use it much right? well what happens when you are on a tour and it starts raining (unexpected), and soem one pulls out infront of you. Becouse you bought cheep forigen tiers the rubber has gone hard fast and just tears away and you smash into it. I just bought some 19" firestones $160 a peace bought two last week buying one this week and two next week. there expencive but your car and your life depends on them even if you dont drive it much.
