Re: Got it running good but..........
Suspect the gas supply, could be restrictive, go ahead and look at the filter. If it's OK at least you can check that off your list.

No air cleaner. has the cast iron filter bowl on the firewall. Don't know what's in it though. Will remove the bottom plug and check it out. Also don't know if there is a screen in the tank.

One temporary option for the worn quadrants is to cut a steel Revlon finger nail file to fit the quadrant and push it in to place or use some Locktite as well.

Re: Got it running good but..........
Checked the sediment bowl and there was a screen in there and it was.......ugly. Ugly enough to restrict flow?? Don't know but certainly possible. Will replace the screen as well as check if there is a screen in the take, if not, put one in and if so replace it. It's snowing so can't (won't) test drive it today.

Tom
I haven't laughed so much in a long time. I have been reading this post and answers this week and had to read the post again 3 times before I finally broke out into a roar. It is always a good day when you get a good laugh. Thank your for your wisdom..........and sense of humor! PS: Still haven't installed your EVR yet. A is sitting on jack stands with nothing but and engine. Got to get going and put it back together again and your laugh may "prod" me. |

Re: Got it running good but..........
So, I removed the screen from the sediment bowl and put a new one in the shutoff valve in the tank. There is still a screen in the carb. I took it for a drive and found that the warmer it got the better it ran but only marginally. I did get it up to 150 degrees at the water neck and was able to JUST get 50MPH but can feel a very slight surge like it's starving for fuel. Judging by how much the fuel goes down on the gauge, it sure aint starvin'. Timing is right on as per Jack Bahm's video and the points are set at .022 but the gap in the distributor (body to rotor) is large, about .040. Going to pull the plugs and check the colour.
