Playin' Between Rain Drops

We’ve been experiencing unusually heavy rain fall here in Central Florida for the last couple of weeks and, today was no exception…

Mike drove his ’41 BC down so we could put it up on the lift to see if we could locate the driveline noise…

Cliff also came over to give us a hand.

When Mike showed up I was just finishing up an oil change on the ’47 rag top, we also fixed a gas leak at the rubber hose in front of the electric fuel pump.

We did locate the source of the noise in the ’41; it was coming from the bearing in the torque tube. We pumped it full of Corn Head grease and the noise quitted down considerably when the three of us pilled in and drove the ’41 to get Pizza… However, we will have to address swapping out the bearing in the not too distant future. Now... if it would just stop raining...

Hi Paul, I know what you mean about the "after-market" (read that Chinese made) junk... We'll try to locate an American made bearing, etc. For now, the Corn Head Grease has calmed things down a bit...

Yes

Skip does and he has a detailed instruction on the procedure. I am sure he would share a copy of the process to change the center bearing.. Tricky.

The sun came out this morning here in central Florida... I had some things to do so I thought I'd take the '39 CS out for a ride. I drove her up to the Post Office, just about 5 miles, (the temp gauge registered 160 on the way up) When I came out, after about five minutes, the temp had gone up to just under 180. She fired up and I drove to the bank, (about another eight miles) On the road the temp was registering 160, after about a 10 minute stay in the bank I came out to fine the temp up to just over 190... This time she objected when I hit the starter... VAPOR LOCK After a few minutes, as the temp dropped just a bit, she fired up and we went on our way however, she was running a little rough at times but that leveled off on the trip home.

Hey Vic, agreed on the rain. At least it keeps things cooler for a bit.

Took this picture on Saturday from my porch.

Yeah maybe so, as he was leaving he was grumbling something about ford flathead guys.

Asked him if he could catch me some mullet quick for my smoker, but no luck.

Buon giorno from Lucca, Italy FordBarner's. we are enjoying our vacation and I just got a chance to check things out on the FordBarn. I've taken a lot of photos of interesting cars, no Flathead V8's. I'll post photos, etc, when we get home next week.

You two have great time over there. Don't eat too much. From personal experience there are no bad meals to be had in Italy.

Hi Tony and Tom,

We are having a wonderful time but, I'm looking forward to getting home, I'm sure the grass is over a foot high by this time... and I miss the aroma of oil, etc. in the garage. Hope to see you both in October at the Moonshine Festival.

All Good Things Come to an End

Our vacation in Italy is winding down, just two days and a wakeup remain. I have seen a bunch of restored and unrestored '50's and '60's vintage FIAT's, and other cool European automobiles, not to mention all the historic sites, but no early Ford V8's... I'm looking forward to getting back home and playing in the garage...
