Re: They're (were) still Out There
Found a 40 Ford pickup covered with straw in a barn once. Bought it for $75. I was only 20 but thought my life had peaked.
Isn't it a great feeling? |

Re: They're (were) still Out There
My FORD/LZ lifelong buddy and I happened upon an old club member
who had reached a turning point and is late in life...I like to think he wanted good homes for these past loves..so 2 prewar ragtops came to our world and are getting the dust shook off and new oil in their veins....I have been soaking the "12" for a week..internals are clean, motor is still tight..gonna go play this am,, Oh Boy!! |

Re: They're (were) still Out There
Time has a way of making stuff available and I think it will always be that way . A good steward realizes they only have stuff temporarily and that taking care of it will eventually pass on to someone else and hopefully it will be someone that will care for and respect it . That said - NEAT STUFF I bought the dusty - cobweb encrusted 33 5w listed here a while back and get to go get it next week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aint nu toyz a blast !!!!

Is this the 38 Vic was referring to? I found/restored/ and sold a late 38-early 39 LZ carburetor a couple of years ago. It had Chandler Groves markings, LZ on the back, and 91-99 on the bowl. Only one I've seen.

Re: They're (were) still Out There
Wow, nice finds. Those LZ convertible sedans are kinda scarce...but there's one that lives down the road from me.
Like this pair of LZ 91-99's on my rig... |

No, not like the LZs on your rig at all. This had Chandler Groves on one side of the fuel bowl, and 91-99 on the other. No V12 script. I have one ready to restore just like the ones on your rig. Compare:

zeffer1940 ...........................
DON'T restore that '35 Phaeton ! A good scrubing and a treatment of GIBBS oil, on the paint, and even you will not recognize it. People will walk around the $75,000.00 restored cars, to look at your phaeton. They do mine. MIKE |
